I don’t like the fact that ASU officials talk about “o your away from home and are an adult now,” but they treat us like kids. I know the way the KIDS are acting is why we are treated the way we are BUT it doesn’t make any sense for us to be between 18 and 22 but have a curfew or not able to do or be in certain places after 1.
I don’t like the administration, most of them are rude! Some are just nasty. And others are just stupid.
I don’t like the caf too much, they don’t serve any type of variety.
But other than that I love ASU and the students not bad seeing i just observe and only involve myself with a select few

I agree with the comment above me. I really don’t like how i have to almost kill myself for just a simple answer from the administration.Even the people in the cafe are rude for no reason and speaking of the cafe can i please go one day with out having something greasy! Could they at least try to have some variety in the menu. If i was a vegetarian i would starve to death between the old lettuce and chicken being served every other day

It’s sad that everyone pretty much has the same thing to say about the administration, and unfortunately I have to agree. The way I see it the school can’t be a product of real change until the issue is attacked at the route. In other words the board of trustees, in my opinion, should be completely revamped. They may be able to change the appearance of the university, but a imperfect board can’t perfect the school. It’s 2010, it’s time the started acting like it.

    • Your comment now makes 3 out of 4 people who has a problem with ASU’s administration – 75%!!! Something has to change soon, because we have lost some valuable assets (students) due to our administration. Would you be able to name something else that you wouldn’t mind changing?

  7. Alabama State Alumni says:

First I would like to start by saying I agree with all the previous posted on this website. Along with the administration and cafeteria food to its workers. Alabama State needs to change their admission policy. ASU is making huge changes for the University physical appearance to better market the university to incoming students and to compete with other university or colleges; “two thumbs up for that”. But why make a change if the students that coming into the school will just vandalize it or destroy it. Along this issue, ASU should remove all of the organizations off of the campus, to re-establish what the purpose of the University is for the students. I understand that this is one thing that makes an HBCU such an different environment from other university’s. It appears that the students have lost and forgotten the main purpose of going to such of a amazing institution. There is so much more to be said about this topic but I will leave it be for now. Next change that should take place immediately is to terminate some teachers at Alabama State. Please don’t get me wrong, ASU have some very qualified if not over qualified and fabulous teachers. But there are some teachers that have no business teaching the future generation that will mold the environment around them. Last and final thing that I see as of now that needs to be change, is to stop hiring people that graduated from the University. I understand that ASU is rich within it’s history, but why hire individual that did not set no academic records for the university. Go out to another part of the United States and hire somebody that can care less about it’s history, that will not be afraid of stepping on somebody “toes” in order to change Alabama State, giving the University a truly new image.

My last concern is whats going to be the out come of these post. Will they be printed and taken to the head administration. So they can truly see the concerns of the student body and the Alumni of this great institution. Or will it be something else out there for students to voice their concerns with no out come?
Great idea, I would love to see what happens after students have posted on this site. Seeing the over all outcome.

    • First, off let me assure you that this website’s goal is intended to be a place where the ASU community can come to voice their concerns, have them documented, viewed, discussed, and carried out with the appropriate actions. This website is just what you want it be. A place where our administration can see what concerns us. And, where the ASU community can come together to organize, so we can make changes happen. So we are on the same page here.

I agree with you for the most part, but the only area I would differ would be the part about removing all organizations from ASU. Yes, I admit some organizations have really taken things to an extreme, but there are some organizations that exist to promote leadership and academic standards. People are a social beings, so even if ASU did remove any and all organizations from campus, I assure you there would be other organizations that would surface underground without any type of administrative guidance. Take most Greek organizations for example, they were formed by a group of like minded individuals who saw a need to come together and form a cohesive unit secretively without any public or outside interference. Which would be considered underground.
But, what that said, I appreciate your opinion and i respect it – that is what this site is here for. We all have our own opinions about any and every topic, it’s up to us to come together and discuss our similarities and differences to form a solution for the place we love – Alabama State University.
