Nine Students Who Organized Protest In 1960 Finally Graduate From ASU 0

May12

In 1960 nine students of Alabama State University were expelled for their role in an organized sit-in to protest against segregated dining facilities at Montgomery County Courthouse. 50 years later on Saturday, May 8, 2010 those nine students finally received their degree from Alabama State University. In attendance were three of the nine students (names unknown at time of this post).

Sadly, I personally was not there to witness this moment due to job obligations, but it only added to my disheartening when I heard the news. This ladies and gentlemen is a piece of Civil Rights History, and I can only envy those of you who where there to partake.

If you are like me and did not get to witness this event, I have embedded the coverage from WSFA 12 News here in Montgomery, AL and CNN.
